2012 mixed media arts workshop

This workshop will explore the art of collage and its many materials, techniques, approaches and possibilities for personal expression. Students will work with a variety of found and painted papers that can be cut or torn and then glued to larger paper. Media such as water based paint, craypas, charcoal and three dimensional objects will be explored. Students will experiment with color, shape, texture, line and composition to learn how to layer and organize their images and ideas. Some projects might incorporate aspects of the local Maine environment and classes will involve on going dialogue. All levels of experience are welcome.
The workshop will take place from 9 to 1pm at a large studio space in Lubec. There will be open studio time in the afternoons. Students can register for one week or for consecutive weeks as projects will vary. There will be a modest materials fee charge at the end of the workshop for shared items. All registered students will receive a list of personal materials and small tools to bring with them.
A supplies list for the workshop will be sent to each student upon registration.
