This scholarship will be offered on a yearly basis. This scholarship will be awarded to one piano student each summer as a tuition-free week in the "standard" piano program A($485) or B($490). As is the case with all applications to SummerKeys, experience or level of ability (or lack there of) will have no bearing on the award; it will go to the first person who writes us, successfully documenting their financial need.

CORA BUENCONSEJO

"Cora" loved SummerKeys and last attended in late August, 2005. She had been battling bravely against her illness for almost two years and had appeared to be in remission; but even in August there were signs that all might not be well. As a student of the late Rolf Kolz and, subsequently, Bruce Potterton at Turtle Bay Music School in New York, her natural gifts had developed to an astonishing degree and it was her dream and her intention to apply to the Van Cliburn Outstanding Amateur Competition being held in the Spring of 2006. Unfortunately, this was not to be. Cora passed away on January 17th, 2006, peacefully, at home in the Phillipines, with her family at her side."
