Setsuko Otake, Oboist,has a diverse and multifaceted career as a soloist ,chamber musician ,orchestral performer and teacher.As a soloist ,she has performed a concerto with Cantori New York , choir known for innovative programming ,and with a chamber orchestra New York Symphonic Ensemble which she toured with to Japan and SouthEast Asia.In 2009 with North/South Consonance ,she has performed world premiere of Water Leaf 4 for Oboe and Chamber Orchestra by Yoshihiro Kanno.
Throughout the US and Japan , she has presented numerous chamber music recitals with her woodwind quintet and trio groups which include a recital at the Carnegie Weil Recital Hall in year 2002. She holds second oboe/English Horn position with the Riverside Symphonia in Lambertville , New Jersey. And being an active freelance oboist ,she has appeared in various orchestras including New Jersey Symphony ,Harrisburg Symphony ,Princeton Symphony Orchestra ,NorthEastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic ,American Ballet Theater and New York City Ballet.
Also she plays on Broadway shows, currently appearing at the Disney production of Mary Poppins and 2012 Tony Award Winner Porgy and Bess. As a private oboe teacher in New York City, she enjoys teaching to create beauty of music and be inspiring together with her students. She received her Bachelor degree from the Toho Gakuen School of Music, and her Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Joseph Robinson.
