Susan Flemingern is an artist, an arts educator and an arts administrator. Her mixed media collages on paper and artists’ books have been seen recently in group exhibitions in New York City at the Cummings Foundation, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Center for Book Arts, St. John’s University Gallery and the Rotunda Gallery as well as at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, N.Y. and, galleries in Portland, Oregon, Alaska, Japan and Europe. She has had solo shows at the Figureworks Gallery in 2006 and at the Brooklyn Public Library in 2005. As the Deputy Director of the Abrons Arts Center of Henry Street Settlement, a multi-arts center located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Ms.Fleminger has overseen a Mixed Media Arts instruction program, changing contemporary exhibitions, an artist in residence program and,an arts-in-education program for public school students and their teachers. She has been a curator of many exhibitions and also organizes a symposia series about the concerns of contemporary artists, Dialogues in the Mixed Media Arts for Tribeca Performing Arts Center. She studied art at Pratt Institute, Hofstra University, Hunter College, the Haystack Mountain School and at Penland.
