2020 Newsletter

Dear SummerKeys Family,
It’s time to start thinking of that beautiful, special cool-weather Lubec we’ve come to love! We’re deep into plans for the Summer of 2021, and as we move forward, here are some things we’d like you to know:
Kathy Collisson (cello) will not be joining us; Joachim Woitun will replace her.
Gregory Biss has shifted his usual weeks to July 5, 12, 19 and August 2nd (omitting July 26th).
All of our other great faculty will be in their “usual” spots, but check on-line for confirmation.
The physical brochures will be mailed in the coming weeks, but our website is all updated and ready to go now. Simply click on the registration tab and start the form. If you prefer to fill it out by hand, we also have attached copies of the registration pages to this e-mail.
Please note that if you registered for 2020, you will still need to fill out the forms again for 2021. If you held your deposits over from this summer, or donated them, we are provisionally holding your spot in the same corresponding week(s).
Please also remember that your deposits were held over, but the $50 registration fee was non-refundable and will be due again at the time of signing up.
We’ll be opening on Monday, June 14th, and making music through Friday, August 27th.
The Mary Potterton Memorial Concert series will run every Wednesday evening (6/16 thru 8/25) at 7:30, plus one Tuesday (6/21), so we can hear Sebastien Ammann.
We’ll be firmly committed to following federal and state regulations concerning students’ health and safety.
One good thing that has come about for SummerKeys from the pandemic is the start of the Zoom Performance Practice Groups. We have over 60 participants in our 9 groups and people are really enjoying this chance to play for one another (it’s not too late if you’d like to join in the fun! Just send me an e-mail and we’ll be sure to get you added to a group). A special thanks to long time SK students Robin Kempster for coming up with this idea and to Dorothy Bognar for helping her to organize it.
Last (but certainly not least), we want to thank all of you who so generously donated to SummerKeys during this trying time. We truly could not have made it through the year without your on-going support.
Hope To See You in Lubec! Bruce
