SummerKeys Zoom Performance Classes
This is an unusual year, since none of us are gathering in-person in Lubec. I have been contacted by two long-term SK students, Robin Kempster and Dorothy Bognar, with the idea of starting SummerKeys Zoom Performance Classes, a way to meet together to share performance and musical fellowship. Using Zoom as our technology, we can gather to continue the spirit of SummerKeys while distancing at home.
Meeting monthly via Zoom in groups of 8-10 people, these performance classes are intended to be relaxed and non-competitive. Participants will have the opportunity to perform music (maximum time of 10 minutes each), hosted by a SummerKeys student. Following the SummerKeys Performance Class model, no faculty will be present.
Singers are encouraged to participate. Performances can be a cappella, or singers can take advantage of one of the on-line sites providing free accompaniment, such as youraccompanist.com. Singers can find this experience enriching in new, unforeseen ways as we all stretch our boundaries in this time of change.
A Zoom account will not be needed, just the program on your device so you can log in. We will all be flexible and in a “pioneering spirit” as we connect through Zoom to continue our shared musical enthusiasm.
Please let us know if you are interested in participating by Wednesday July 29, as we will be forming groups in the near future. You will be contacted by your host as these groups set their first date. Your comments are most welcome.
Affectionate regards, Bruce
