Fran Berge
Fran Berge performs widely on both historical and modern instruments. She plays with Tempesta di Mare and the Phoenix Ensemble and she has performed and recorded frequently with the Fairmount Chamber Ensemble, Elysian Camerata, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, Opera Delaware, Orchestra 2001, Melomanie, the Washington Bach Consort and the Carmel Bach Festival. Fran studied at the U. of Michigan, Northwestern U., and Temple U, and also with violist, Karen Tuttle, and Baroque violinists, Marilyn McDonald, Stanley Ritchie and Elizabeth Wallfisch.
She loves to teach and to coach chamber music at all levels, which she does at Haverford College and Germantown Friends School as well as Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, PA. She has taught at several summer music camps; this past summer, she led a Renaissance Violin Band Workshop in Philadelphia and taught privately in France. When not playing music, she likes to be out kayaking or camping in the mountains.
